Basic Recording procedures
1. PLAY the online video or the video in your PC you would like to capture
2. Press the record icon to start recording is flickering and remind: "Recording starts".)

When oRipa Video Recorder is running and the video being recorded is opened, the icon at the bottom right of the pc will flicker. As you press the record button in the software, the icon at the bottom right of the pc will speed up flickering, which means the program is recording the video. The icon will slow down when you stop recording, and will disappear when you close the video being recorded. oRipa Video Recorder currently does not support recording flash file.

Note:
1. You can adjust the recording settings (e.g. Frames per Second, Frame Size, audio properties) to get your designed output. Please refer to the Video and Audio settings for more details.

Save Path
Click the "Save" button to select another folder for your video streams. The save path is the same as the directory in which you install oRipa Video Recorder in default.

Video Setting

Record and Stop Buttons
Press the record icon button to start recording as you play the video files you want to record.
Press the Stop icon button to stop the recordings.

Your recorded video clips are saved in the defaulted folder or the newly set folder.

"Use default video settings" button
We have defaulted set the video parameters to 600 X 480, 25 FPS and MPEG4-2 compression format, which will generate a high quality video output. Just press the "Use default video settings" button. It will save you time and effort on setting the video parameters.

Frame Size (Height & Width)
oRipa Video Recorder’s default frame size is: Height 600; Width: 480. Just press the "default size" button to set the frame size to 600 X 480.
You can also set the frame size to 800 X 600, 512 X 384 or any other sizes you would like the output video to be. The best frame size for the output video is the one close to the original video files.

Frames per Second (FPS)
oRipa Video Recorder’s default FPS is 25
oRipa Video Recorder supports FPS ranging from 10 to 40.
Tips:
Normally, 15 to 30 FPS is perfect to generate smooth playback of recorded webcam streams.

Video Compression Settings
You can real time compress the webcam streams so to make the output media files smaller and not occupy too much disk space.
oRipa Video Recorder supports many video compression formats (e.g. mjpg, window video1, intel indeo, xvid etc.).
oRipa Video Recorder's default compression format is Microsoft Video 1 (15:1). You can select your favorite compression format from the compression draw-down menu.

Disable Video Compression
You can press the "Disable Video Compression" button to uncompress the output video. The quality of the uncompress video is better than the compress video, but the uncompress video’s file size is bigger.

Audio Setting
"Use default audio settings" button
We have defaulted set the audio parameters to stereo, 16bit 44kHz and MP3 audio compression format, which will generate a high quality audio output. Just press the "Use default audio settings" button if you are not familiar with audio settings.

"Record without Audio" button
Press the "Record without Audio" button for not recording the sound

Select a Sound Card
Choose the sound card your PC currently running for recording the audio if needed.

Audio Properties
Click on the boxes of "Audio Properties" to set the sound output (e.g. 16 bits, 44kHz and stereo).

Audio Compression
You can real time compress the sounds to make the output media files smaller if you would like to record for a long time.
oRipa Video Recorder supports many audio compression formats (e.g. PCM, MPEG Layer-3, Micro ADPCM etc.).
oRipa Video Recorder's default audio compression format is MPEG Layer-3. You can pick your favorite compression format from "select a compression code" draw-down menu.

Disable Audio Compression
You can press the "Disable audio Compression" button to uncompress the output audio. The quality of the uncompress audio is better than the compressed audio.

FAQs

1. What happens if I open more than one video files when recording?
oRipa Video Recorder will only record the first video you open when you open more than one video files, but you can watch other videos or browse other webpages during recording.

2. Can I minimize the video files while recording?
Yes, you can. Recording will not stop when you minimize the video files, but it will stop when you close the video file you want to record or when the online video files you want to record are disconnected.
